     Van Lee Grumbles Jr. died on 15 June 2006 at age 43; Kay Melton wrote: He had a blood clot that went into the stem on the back on his neck to his brain and shut off blood flow to his brain. There wasn't anything that could be done.

     VAN LEE "SKIP" GRUMBLES JR., 43, passed away Thursday, June 15 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in Sinton on Dec. 6, 1962 to Van Lee Grumbles Sr. and Sharon Oliver Grumbles, and resided in Aransas Pass all of his life. Skip was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Aransas Pass where he played the Bass Guitar. He was employed by J. M. Davidson, Inc. as a Quality Coordinator.
     He was preceded in death by his parents Van Lee and Sharon Grumbles.
     Survivors include his two daughters, Mary Lee Frances Grumbles and Stephanie Cantwell; a son, B. J. Stacy all of Aransas Pass; brother Rick (Annette) Grumbles of Waxahachie; sister, Charlice (Peter) Ackarie of Conway, Ark., paternal grandmother, Mary Grumbles of Aransas Pass; numerous Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
     Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 17, at the Assembly of God Church, 417 N. Houston St., Aransas Pass with interment to follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass.
     In Lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made by donations to an educational fund established for his daughter, Mary Lee Frances Grumbles, c/o Mary Grumbles, P. O. Box 782, Aransas Pass, Texas 78335.

     From Joan, his half sister: Jonay's mother's name was Tileen She died during childbirth when Jonay was born. My mother had worked for my father in the VA Hospital laundry at Fort Bayard, NM for a number of years so knew him well when Tileen died. She said they used to joke around a lot. They married a little over 4 months later on March 3, 1938 and I was born that same year on December 29, 1938. My father's mother moved from Reserve, NM to Silver City to care for Jonay before my father and mother married. She later moved back to Reserve after my mother and father married.
