Charles Raymond McDonald died on 25 January 1998 at Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, at age 65. He was buried at McDonald Ranch Cemetery, Lakewood, Eddy County, New Mexico. His obituary was found in the Carlsbad Current Argus dated January 28, 1998. It read:
Lakewood--Grave side services for Charles Raymond "CR" McDonald, 65, of Bosque, New Mexico, will be at 1 PM Thursday at the McDonald Ranch Cemetery, outside of Lakewood. Family members will preside over the service. Mr. McDonald died Sunday, January 25, 1998 at the Presbyterian Health Care Center. West Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born December 1, 1932, in Vaughn to Archie L. and Marie Knowles McDonald. Mr. McDonald graduated from Artesia High School in 1951 and joined the US Army where he served for two years. After his discharge he returned home and worked as an engineer with Santa Fee Railroad. He retired after 44 years of service with the railroad.
Survivors are a son Keith, of Albuquerque; mother Marie Ryerson of Clovis; brother C.A. of Van Horn, Texas; and sister, Dorothy Izard of Artesia.
