IVY BURLESON
Another telegram was received from Mrs. Schoshusen yesterday morning containing the sad information that Ivy Burleson passed away at five o'clock that morning at Prescott where he had been taken for treatment. Readers of this paper will remember that Mrs. Schoshusen was called to the Blue Bell Mine the first of the week upon the receipt of a telegram stating that Mr. Burleson was not expected to live.
It was not until yesterday that any information regarding the nature of the accident was learned here. That came in a clipping from one of the Prescott papers and is as follows: "What are believed to be fatal injuries were sustained yesterday forenoon by Ivy Burleson, an employee of the Blue Bell Mine in the performance of his labors. "He was driving a team in that camp, when one of the animals of a fractious temperament suddenly turned to one side while under headway at rapid speed, throwing him violently to the ground, his head striking a big rock. "He was picked up a few minutes later and it was decided to take him to Meyer to the hospital, where medical aid could be extended him. Immediately after being thrown off the wagon he lapsed into unconsciousness, and up to a late hour last night he had not regained his faculties. "It is believed he has sustained a fracture of the skull, and his condition is reported as critical. "everything possible is being done for him, the Blue Bell management giving orders that every assistance be extended and no cost spared to bring him around to his former self.
"Mr. Burleson bears an excellent name in that section for his industry and capability and much regret is expressed over the sad misfortune that has overtaken him. He has a wife and two children residing at Meyer." Mrs. Schoshusen's telegram yesterday morning stated that Mr. Burleson passed away at five o'clock. from the wire it is gathered that the injured man was taken from the Blue Bell Mine to Prescott for better treatment but to no avail.
The deceased was quite well known in Tempe and was a member of the Tempe A.O.U.W. Lodge. Mr. Finch yesterday wired the Prescott Lodge to take charge of the funeral there today and Mr. Schohusen left yesterday to attend it. The accident is a most deplorable one and Mrs. Burleson who was raised in Tempe, and has been a frequent visitor here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Schoshusen, since her marriage , and has the most sincere sympathy of all. Feb 7, 1910
Henry Schohusen returned Saturday evening from Prescott to which place he had gone to attend the funeral of his son-in-law Ivy Burleson, who met his death through an accident at the Blue Bell Mine. Mrs. Schoshusen who went to Prescott earlier in the week, will be back tomorrow or the next day and will be accompanied by her daughter, Edith, who was staying with the Burleson's at the time of the fatal accident. Mrs. Burleson and her two children will probably come to Tempe in a short time and for the present at least, will make their home with Mrs. Burleson's parents.

Have in my possession a letter written to Cora Bell Pruitt Hellyer, daughter-in-law of Elizabeth Alice Larremore Hellyer, from Easter Larremore Macey, who is daughter of John Martin Larremore and he is brother to Elizabeth Alice Larremore Hellyer. The letter is from Lander, Wyoming and is dated January 12, 1958, and this is how it reads:
Dear Mrs. Hellyer,
"Hello". I will have to apologize for the formal and some what silly greeting, but darn it all, it has been so long since I received the very nice letter from you that I can't remember your first name. I really meant to answer your letter, but I mislaid my address book, and couldn't write to anyone whose address wasn't familiar to me. After a year and a half I found the address book this morning, but it has been so long that I am afraid that I can never contact some of my friends now. I wrote to Aunt Dora (Larremore Bass) immediately because she wrote me such sweet letters, and she is the only link that I have to the past.
We have had such a nice winter here, too nice. It gets near zero at night, although we do not have enough snow. We seem to have all kinds of sickness in this country when we have an open winter.
Some day I am coming through New Mexico, asnd I surely would like to meet you and Aunt Dora. I have been saying that for the past few years, and if there isn't one obsticle there are two, so I will probably be old enough to lay down and die before any dreams materialize.
My two older boys are out of the service now, but both of them are living away from home, and it is very lonely without them. They work at the Wyoming State Training School, which is an institute for the mentally retarded. One is an electrician, and the other one has a very good job, as he is head athletic and recreational director. They both live on the grounds, although I see them often, as the institution is just outside the city limits of Lander, Wyoming.
Do you by any chance know anything about the Mary A. Jennings land to which there were heirs by the dozens, including myself? It was an undivided property amounting to one hundred and sixty acres of sand so I have been told, but the catch is, I have been informed that it has been sold twice since 1954, from Mary A. Jennings to R. N. Thomas to Lester A. Parks. Do these names mean anything to you? I inherited my measly one eightyth of the one hundred and sixty (two acres if divided) from my mother, but about three or four years ago, this Thomas wanted to buy the land, but I neither signed any papers or received any money. Of course the money isn't important as the amount involved was so trival. My reason for keeping the land in the family was entirely a sentimental one, and I told the others I wouldn't sell, and I would gladly have paid any necessary taxes. Now, my brother, Tom informs me that he signed the papers and has received payment for his, but I was completely ignored all the way around as if I was just something to be tolerated, and naturally I am just a little bit put out about the whole deal. Now, if the New Mexico law conforms to the laws of our state, the buyer of the land can't get a clear title to this without my signature, and I can claim one eightyth of the land he bought until my dying day. Could you shed any light on this by any chance? The land is in Eddy County, New Mexico, and the description is as follows, N/2 NE/4, SW/4 NE/4 and SE/4 NW/4 Sec. 9, T-25-S, R-26-E, New Mexico. Is there such a person living as Mary Jennings? I wish that you would keep this inquiry of mine confidental as it really makes no difference one way or the other, but I was just curious as to why all of the other heirs were in the know and I didn't know what was going on. I will appreciate any information that you could give me, if any, but don't bother in any way if you aren't familiar with this part of your country.
I sincerely hope that if you ever get up this way you remember my address. We are only one hundred and fifty miles from Yellowstone Park, and often go fishing within ten miles of the place, but believe it or not we have been inside the park itself only once. It is just human nature not to appreciate the wonders that you can reach easily. It is only a very short trip over into Idaho and we can go fishing for the big ocean salmon when the salmon run is on.
I hope that you will write to me when you can, and tell me all about your family and yourself. Is it you or your husband that is a blood relative of mine? Do you live on a farm, and do you raise stock? I suppose that you have figured out, after reading this letter, that I sure can't use a typewriter, but it is easier than using my fingers, and I write so much that I get writers' cramps, and I am looking forward to a lot of
paper work in the near future, so I will take the lazy way now.
I sincerely hope this letter finds you and your family well, and I am going to keep your address in my telephone book from now on.
With Love,
Easter (Larremore Macey).
