In West & Fauntleroy's research they state as a matter offact thatThomas Muse was son of John, "Thomas; of whom hereafter" and then statethat Ann was a probable daughter. The only evidence I found in theirworks wasin Vol. 53, Issue 4, Page 312, "Virginia Magazine of Historyand Biography". In this issue they referenced a deposition from RichmondCo. Va. made by Samuel Templeman 31 December 1831. This deposition concerned the bounty warrant papersof Richard Muse Jr.

I quote. " I Samule Templeman of the said county, aged nearly seventy-four years, do hereby testify on oath that I was well andintimately acquainted with Richard Muse(Jr) from a youth until his death,having been born and raised in the same neighborhood. (Further in the deposition he states) He married a Miss Strother of King George County,by whom he had the following children, Catherine who married JamesHackney, Alexander P. Muse, Fanny, Harriet, Elizabeth, Richard(III),Henry, Lucy, and Meridith Muse, the most of the childrenI was wellacquainted. I further state upon oath, that I was well acquainted with Meredith Muse the brother of Richard Muse(Jr) who live with Thomas Museon theeastern shore of either of Maryland or Virginia." end quote.
To better explain the above quote, John Muse and Mary Sanford hadson's, Richard and Thomas. Richard Muse (son of John) and wife Margaret(Payne-Muse)Muse they had a son namedRichard Jr. and Meredith andRichard Jr Muse who married Elizabeth Strother hadson's named RichardIII and Meredith (name sake to great Uncle) The Meredith that is statedto be living with Thomas would the son of Richard brother to Thomas. Soin the above statement of Samule Templemen identifies the Wife and all ofthe children of Richard Jr., which does not include a Thomas Muse butplaces Meredith, Richard Jr.'s Brother in Thomas's household. So Thomaswould have to havebeen an Uncle to Meredith for West and Fauntleroy tostate that Thomas was a son of John. Other information that can not beignored and can not be pure coincidence is that Thomas named one of hissons Richard and the other Thomas SanfordMuse. The name Sanford can betraced back to his mothers surname, Sanford.
